Dongguan Institute of Technology is the first general undergraduate college in Dongguan. It is jointly built by the province and the city, and the city is the main one. Dr. Yang Zhenning, the Nobel Prize winner in physics, is the honorary president. The school was established in 1990 and was established with the approval of the former State Education Commission in April 1992. In March 2002, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to change to a full-time undergraduate institution of higher learning. In May 2006, it was approved as a bachelor's degree awarding unit. Undergraduate teaching level assessment by the Ministry of Education, in June 2010, together with 61 colleges and universities including Tsinghua University, it was approved as the first batch of universities to implement the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program” of the Ministry of Education.
